The architecture in Paraguay, similar to many countries in South America, is a remnance of a the beauty that once was in South America. Many cities in the southern continent are now falling apart due to negligence, corruption, and lack of maintenance. I can compare a few countries that fit into this category alongside Asuncion including Buenos Aires & Montevideo. Buenos Aires is the middle aged women of the group, she is still beautiful when you dress her up and at times she can flare up with danger. Asuncion is sadly the grandmother of the group has she is already past her prime and there is no way you can dress her up to look beautiful.

Aside from Colombia the one country I really regret not visiting when I was backpacking in SA was Paraguay.
That’s a beautiful architecture, despite the city has past her prime.
