Plaza Colon in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic

This picture is taken at Plaza Colon in the capital of the Dominican Republic, Santo Domingo.  There is quite a bit of history in the DR that many people don’t know about.  The remains of Christopher Colon are supposedly buried here in the old city of Santo Domingo, this hasn’t been confirmed but the Dominicans state that as fact.  Its a great country to visit and if you are interested in getting a true taste of the country definitely stay away from the tourist ridden beach resorts like Punta Cana.  I prefer a smaller city on the north coast called Puerto Plata.
