Best Things To Do In Bolivia: Tourist Attractions

Even the best tourist attractions in Bolivia are commonly overlooked due to the popularity of its neighbors: Argentina, Brazil, and Peru.  While one can’t argue there are a lot of things to do in all three countries don’t fail to notice all of the unique things to do in Bolivia.

What other countries can claim the world’s most dangerous road (the death road or death highway) and the ability to walk on water? Yes that’s right I said it, walking on water in Bolivia, its one of the many Bolivia attractions to take part of.

La Paz is the capital of the country providing many of your Bolivia tourist attractions.  There are countless museums to visit for any avid art fan or fans of artifacts.  Many of those museums are housed in colonial buildings in the old city of Calle Jean.  Sagarnarga street is the main drag any tourist would want to visit.

Probably the most popular thing to do in Bolivia, this place will completely blow your mind.  In order to have the view that I have above you have to go during the rainy season.  The rainy season in Salar de Uyuni is from November to March.  What happens is a white out affect caused by a small layer of water over the salt flats.  You can take absolutely breathtaking pictures and have lunch at the restaurant made out of salt!

THE DEATH ROAD (LOS YUNGAS ROAD)

Bolivia used to lay claim to the most dangerous road in the world until the country built a much safer road.  This is still a very popular tourist attraction since people like to bike trek the road, down hill of course.  The Death Road is officially called the North Yungas Road and before the new stretch of road was built over 200 people died here every single year.  You can find many tours that offer the bike trek through the Death Road.  If you don’t taking these kinds of risks you can try other outdoor activities that Bolivia has to offer.  Peep this video about the Death Road:

POTOSI:

The city of Potosi used to be a very large mining town and has an immense amount of history.  The mines in the region were so rich that the city use to be one of the most wealthiest cities in the Americas.  There is nice colonial architecture to see in the area as well as mining tours if thats your thing!  Don’t forget to explore the city and some of the museums available as well.
