My name is Marcello Arrambide, I day trade & travel the world.
I have lived in 10 countries across 4 continents and have visited roughly 50 countries. I have experienced more in the last few years than I did in first 25 years of my young adulthood. I have been traveling most of my life but only decided to start traveling around the world and sharing it with this blog for a few years now. Some of the highlights?
- First Travel Blogger to visit the Newest Country in the world: South Sudan
- One of the few people that has visited Somalia
- Walking & Petting Cheetahs in Africa
- Feeding Hyenas in Ethiopia
- Those are just a few to mention!
I decided to start this site to both chronicle my travels and HELP YOU! I plan on sharing everything you need to know about how not to get ripped off while you travel. While I have plenty of information that you can use for your travels in my travel guides section, these are some of the most popular items that I share:
- I share how to get a cruise to Antarctica for as low as $3000,
- Find an African safari for $350,
- Go to see Gorillas in Uganda for as low as $400!
Sign up for my email newsletter below and I will send you all three immediately:
I have visited almost every country in South America and plan on heading to Asia after I live in Brazil starting in a few months. I like to visit places that people DON’T GO TO or RARELY GO TO. Everyone goes to Europe, how many people have you heard of visiting Ethiopia, Suriname, or even Madagascar?
2011 was an incredible year of travel for me by being able to see most of South America and all of Eastern Africa. I plan on adding some highlights to this page but in the meantime you can view my dedication to every traveler in the world which is a highlight of my travels from 2011. You can see my plans for traveling in 2012 here
About Marcello Arrambide
Rewind to April 11th 1984, I was born in a small town named Merida in Venezuela. Fast forward to 20 and I have already lived in 3 continents and visited over 25 countries. There was a catch, I always seemed to return to the United States. At 13 years old I was working two jobs, going to school, and doing extra curricular activities like soccer and weight training. I was working for my freedom. Fast forward 5 years: I ditched the extra curriculars, only went to high school for 3 classes with on the job training, and worked 4 jobs. I was the obsessive salesman, a “fanatical entrepreneur”,
I was working for my freedom
When cd burning software first came out, I burned cd’s and sold them for $5 to $10 a piece. I worked at a bakery and took the leftovers to school and sold them to students (and yes teachers and administrators too) for breakfast the next morning. I flew to New York Cityand found a contact in China to have purses and wallets shipped to me directly to sell. I was working for my freedom. I knew there had to be a better way.
Every summer I would go out of town to take advanced college courses to finish school. I tried real estate, yes I was “one of those” speculators that relentlessly flipped properties: painting, nailing, cleaning, calling, signing.
TOO MUCH WORK!
How am I going to be free when I am relying on other people to buy, clean, and sell real estate? I heard about friends making tens of thousands of dollars in the stock market, safe to say I was intrigued.
That’s when I started to research the stock market, Fibonacci, and day trading.
I went through countless software and ideas and I then decided to take the plunge. I took out $25,000 in private student loans (when credit was easy to obtain) to finance my new endeavor. I worked full time, went to school full time, and pulled all nighters 2 to 3 days a week, and still managed to blow through those loans in a matter of months.
I wasn’t deterred, I’ve always been a man of strong convictions (my mother calls it stubborn). I did countless hours of back testing, spoke with an infinite number of traders, and finally reached the beginning of what I call my dream: FREEDOM.
I day trade in the stock market for 1-2 hours a day and continue to share with you, my reader, how to travel and live overseas on your own terms. All I need is high speed internet and a computer to work around the world and this time I do not plan on returning to the United States.
Read about the project here)
In the meantime, I will still be in the relentless pursuit of my dream.
Update: I’ve explored most of South America with only a Ecuador and Peru left. I’m currently in Kenya exploring all of Eastern Africa. Check out updates in my travel section!
My New Day Trading Project
Many of you find me and ask about how I afford to travel around the world so much and so fast. I’m not your typical travel blogger in that I own my own business and am able to afford many more flights. While I did backpack for the first time in East Africa, I teach people day trading via my Day Trading Academy and require a fast and reliable internet connection in order to work. You can check out more about how I day trade and travel around the world at TheDayTradingAcademy.com

Thanks so much Hanna I appreciate that
You are actually asking a question about a post that I am writing!! Colombia and Chile are cheap enough if you buy groceries at market and things like that. Housing in both countries is still relatively cheap. Argentina is cheap as well but they are going to go through a very bad economic time soon. Bolivia and Paraguay are dirt cheap but that depends if you want to deal with “latin” inefficiencies from time to time. shoot me an email at wanderingtrader (at) gmail (dot) .com and you can tell me exactly what you are looking for. Asia is very cheap and you wont have any issues with the internet
Hey thanks for the comments! I think freedom is available to everyone its just a matter of how hard you want to work for it.. how did you find my site by the way?
Hey Marcello, how much money are you making?
Sounds great! Looks like your day trading path is a bit similar to mine! thanks for the comment
Thanks I appreciate that
Dude, you missed Peru??? After Chile, it is the BEST in South American (ilivetotravel here!)
Seriously, couldn’t agree more! You’re living the dream. What an inspiration you are. Fellow entrepreneur here, I’ve lived in another country as well. I’m back in the states finishing my degree and looking for ways to live and travel abroad. Hearing your story, is a great reminder not to give up. Thanks for the inspiration!
Thats awesome Jaimie! Keep hustling maybe we will meet up around the world one of these days
Hey Lesley will def put something together for I actually have been planning on doing an entire day trading section for day traders and internet speeds. I can tell you that you wont have too many problems in south america.. panama is basically the US they use dollars unofficially. You shouldn’t run into any problems in Ecuador either. I would reccomend Panama to start so you can get the feeling of living overseas then you can hop to another country
haha love the picture on the front you mind if I steal that? lol We can def meet up somewhere in the world.. love to meet other traders! Have you taken a look at my day trading site?
Asking that is like asking who your favorite kid is! You just can’t do that.. there are certain things I like abt certain countries but there isn’t one that sticks out in my mind.. there are so many unique things about so many countries I couldn’t just pick one
Wow, truly living the dream
You’ve definitely inspired me a little…
It’s people like you who makes the world go round! Thanks for sharing your adventures with us!
Your welcome
You paid too much man! I saw Big 5 for $150 ( full day ) at one of the new 7 wonders of the world – Maasai Mara National Reserve, Kenya.. = P
Anyway, love your site! : )
EL
That would work out to roughly $400 for the three tour that I took El… you can’t make it to the National Reserve in a day.. it takes roughly 6 hours to get there so you might as well do a three day tour and get the animals for three days.. one day isn’t enough
Hey Jeremy great to hear from and thanks a lot for the comments.. I am working on a new redesign which should improve everything especially the speed of the site! thanks!
I agree with You, Marcello, to visit some places DONT GO TO or RARELY GO TO..Your story is really inspiring me, thanks about sharing your experiences to us. Have you ever go traveling to Indonesia? Indonesia has lot of experiences with the tradition, culture, art, nature and heritage!
Thanks once again for your nice website!
Haven’t been to Indonesia yet but it does fascinate me and I definitely want to head out to Asia later this year
Loved that picture of you with the two Cheetahs. My dream is to make enough money blogging and live like you: travel around the world.
Cheers
I do quite well with the travel site but my bread and butter is day trading.. I do extremely well and now teach others how to day trade as well.
Saludos!
Gracias amor
