It should be no real surprise that Miami offers many different fishing locations that can only be described as being ideal. Most of the fishing enthusiasts will love the options that are offered by inland freshwater fishing. That is mainly because they can fish blue-gill, catfish and largemouth bass. However, you can also go offshore fishing for some shark, barracuda, tarpon and snook.

Blackpoint Marina
The marina is located close to the Biscayne National Park. Blackpoint offers a jetty that will extend around 1.5 miles right into the bay. This makes it perfect for casting. You can choose to take a break whenever you want at the dockside bar and restaurant. Alternatively, you can go for a picnic in the dedicated pavilion or just opt for a grill. After fishing for tarpon, bonefish, snook and many other specific saltwater species you can go jogging or cycling.
79th Street Bridge
You can legally fish here but the area is not so well-known. Because of this you can expect smaller crowds. The 79th street will go right towards the beach and there is a parking area where you can stop in order to then go fishing. The fish that you can catch here are quite rare, like the barracuda. At the same time, the views of downtown Miami are quite magnificent. The only problem is that gates will close when the sun goes down. That is why you have to get to the bridge as early as possible for that huge haul.
Matheson Hammock Park
All anglers love the man-made pool present here. It is naturally flushed with the Biscayne Bay tidal action. Because of this there is a constant supply of snook, mullet and snapper, all in shallow water. If you are interested in a really good fishing spot, just go under the bridge on the park’s right side, all past the large toll gate.
Tropical Park
If in Miami looking for great freshwater fishing, this is a spot you should try. Tropical Park gives you access to catfish, blue-gill and largemouth bass in Urban Lake. Besides the really great fishing facilities that are available, keep in mind that around 1 million people visit because they love all that is offered, including the equestrian center, a tennis court and a dog park.
Rickenbacker Causeway
Last but not least, Rickenbacker Causeway is a great location that stands out because it is lucrative and convenient. You will go over a large bridge and then there is a parking area. Stay close to the bridge so that you can be close to the best fishing spots. Be sure that you go early morning to catch bonefish, snapper, tarpon and even small sharks.
