This year has been a year that nobody expected. We feared for our health, we stayed at home, we worked from home and we isolated ourselves away from loved ones, family and friends. We have been through a lot, and it saw us change plans and struggle with different elements of our lives. But, things are starting to improve and we are becoming accustomed to this new normal while we fight the virus. It does mean that you can start to plan for holidays and travel adventures once more. However, what does travel look like when it comes to the new normal? Here are some of the things to think about.
Wearing a face mask on the plane
One of the first things that you may have to think about would be that you need to consider wearing a face mask on the plane. This is a new thing and something that has been brought in to protect passengers. As you are flying in alcove proximity with others, it is safer to ensure that you wear a face mask at all times. Of course, the exception will be to drink water, but you will find that there is likely no food served on the plan. Some airlines have put in social distancing where possible, leaving rows of seats between each party’s booking. So that may also feel different.
Getting a covid test ahead of flying
Before you even set foot on a plane, you may find that you need to get a covid test done to ensure that you are negative before you fly. Getting a fit to fly corona test can be done quite easily now, and it will give you, the airline and other passengers the assurance that it is safe to travel with you. They are not the most pleasant things to go through, but it will be worth it to avoid any quarantine periods that may be enforced had you not had the test.
Different guidelines in different countries
Another thing to consider would be the different guidelines that you may have to follow in different countries. Some countries may require different social distancing measures, others may need you to wear face masks more often. The best thing to do would be to check the guidance before you travel. This can help you to be better prepared before you go and also be understanding of what may be enforced when you get there. It could help you to pack extra masks as well.
Planning for unexpected changes
Finally, make sure you plan for any unexpected changes that may occur. Things can change without too much notice such as more guidance and rules in place or even quarantine periods for when you return. What might feel safe now, could become a risk if their infection rates begin to rise. Checking these guidelines often will help you to stay informed of what is going on and enable you to have as much advance warning if changes need to be made.
Let’s hope these tips help you when it comes to travel with the new normal.
