Beautiful Beach In Florianopolis, Brazil

Florianopolis Brazil

Joaquina Beach in Florianopolis

The beautiful beaches in Florianopolis are definitely not few in number. The popular island in Southern Brazil is known for its picturesque coastline.  While I wasn’t that impressed with the island I cannot say anything remotely offensive of the beaches I found (after further investigation).  I would prefer the beaches a bit north in Paraty. One of the things I did like about the island is one could find excluded beaches almost everywhere.  We rented a scooter and traveled around the entire island and found plenty of small beaches, many of which were secluded. The picture above is of Joaquina Beach where many locals were surfing.

It is located in the middle of the island of the East coast (ocean side).  Still remember playing in some sand dunes in this area as well which was quite a drastic change in scenery.  There is some great hiking on the island as well.  The terrain in Brazil is truly unique and many people don’t realize that Brazil has so much to offer than just Rio de Janiero and beaches. This also brings back memories of how our scooter got impounded because I wasn’t carrying my passport. I guess its a good thing I kept trying to “tip the officer”. I was very surprised how good the internet was there as well. Didn’t have any issues day trading.

  1. Those rocks must feel slippery… wow…
These make me think of the Seychelles beaches.

Quite recently (this June) I came across a number of similar rocks in a forest near Sintra (Portugal), very high above sea level (more than 400 m) and I’m still researching how they were formed. I don’t know if you know about those round boulders in that forest…
