Explaining Life in Colombia in One Picture

Colombia

This picture was taken in the very small gold mining town of Marmato, Colombia.  I saw this and I found it extremely interesting because it describes what life is like in Colombia.  There is a range of people and every person tells their own story.  You find the young man on the left with his backpack showing that he is either going or coming from school and the boots he has on shows that he has to make a living.

The Campesino (man in cowboy hat) shows what life in the country is like.  Once you get to the right, the first women shows the poverty of the country and the very last one doesn’t completely describe the beautiful women, but from this angle it does show you that they are fashionable and care a lot about their appearance.  The mural in the background shows a little light into the cultural importance of religion.  I just find it very interesting!

  1. I love the fact that everyone is sat there as an individual, doing their own thing, and yet at the same time they make up a really colourful picture of life! They are almost part of the background mural on the wall. I have not been to Columbia (although my Columbian friend Diana insists I must!) but this photo does give me a taste.

  2. Spot on with this write-up, I truly believe that this amazing site needs far more attention. I’ll probably be returning to read
    more, thanks for the advice!
