Baby Sea Lion Photo Bomb in Galapagos Islands

Baby Sea Lion at Galapagos Islands

I cannot describe how much fun the baby sea lions (and sea lions in general) are.  In the Galapagos Islands, Argentina, and most other countries where I have been able to interact with them they have just been so much fun.  Most time they are very active in the water and love to play when you are around. This goes for the females and babies. The males are very aggressive and you should stay away from them at all costs.  Then they are on land they aren’t as curious and most times they are either relaxing or trying to get in and out of the water. This little guy however was putting on a complete show. I can’t wait to process the video of the endless amount of times that they have come up to us. It reminds me of the time where I was able to scuba dive with this guys in Argentina.  Make sure to check out Quasar Expeditions which invited us to the islands. I truly can’t recommend another company as we had an exceptional time with them.  Feel free to try and caption this photo!

  1. I have been photo bombed by dog, ducks, sea gulls, kids, cats, canaries and everything else I can think of. A seal would be a new one.

The seal looks like he is guarding the beach. I would have to say, “Do you have a reservation”?

  2. Great photo, I would love to go to the Galapagos Islands and see them for myself!
How close are you allowed to get to them?
Does tourism have any impact on their everyday lives?

    1. From what I remember I think it was 6-8 feet or so. We had some animals actually come up to us as well which was very cool. I think tourism does play a part in their lives but they are very strict to limit that as much as possible.

  3. Amazing picture! That closure experience is very cute!!!! So adorable! I so really like child sea tigers. The ones in the Galapagos have no worry at all. Thanks for sharing.

  4. Beautiful picture of a seal. I love animals, especially water mammals. That is a great photo. The seal looks so curious. Thanks for posting it.

  5. Cuteness! I used to live in a seaside town in New Zealand that had tons of seals. They could get quite aggressive on land where they felt out of their comfort zone but were always playful & friendly with the divers in the water where they felt at ease.

  6. Haha yes! This is probably one of the best photo bombs I ever and cutest. I come across seals pretty often but never anything like this. The Galapagos are on my list for places to visit in the next five years and I really really hope to have at minimum this kind of run in with a wildlife.

  7. He’s obviously waiting for you to write his cardboard sign…”Disabled veteran seal down on his luck. Any fish will help…”

  8. Cutie with a nice fur coat on 🙂
But I wouldn’t dare getting close to one of these “doggies”, I bet they bite on hard. And mummy is probably patrolling the area.
