Part of Iceland’s Golden Circle tour this is the site of the World’s first Parliament which started in 930 AD. This is also the site where North America and Europe tectonic plates are being torn apart by an average of 2 centimeters a year. Here at Thingvellir, you can see the two continents being spread apart by mid atlantic ridge). After you return to your Reykjavik sightseeing make sure you eat fish and chips which is typical Iceland food. and on the same tour you can see the Kerio Volcanic Crater where the artist Bjork held a concert.
