These Phuket Travel Tips will Make your Next Vacation a Blast

Phuket, Thailand

If you want to make the most out of your Phuket holiday, then you have certainly come to the right place. Here you can find out some top travel tips for when you go to the area.

ATMs

One thing that you should know is that ATMs are absolutely everywhere. They are usually very safe to use as well. In Thailand however, the money comes out first and then your card is ejected. A lot of people find that they forget their card because this isn’t standard practice for a lot of ATMs. If you are going to get currency from a cashier or a currency exchange point then you should really count it while you are there. There have been cases of money being missed out and this is the last thing that you want.

Book a Luxury Retreat

If you are staying in a hotel then why not look into luxury retreats instead? When you do, you will soon find that it’s more than possible for you to have the best vacation on a budget. There are so many to choose from and some of them even come with a private pool so you can cool off if the heat gets too much.

Car Rental

Renting a car at the airport is very simple but you do need to make sure that you book it in advance. This is especially the case if you have a specific model that you would like to rent. If you go during the high season, then the provider may be limited as to what they have available. It’s also important that you double-check the damages before picking up the car too. After all, if another person has damaged the car before you then you may be held responsible if the dealer hasn’t noticed it before you drive the car off the lot. Renting cars from the street is possible, but it’s something that you should probably avoid.

Currency

The Thai Baht notes come in 1,000, 500, 100, 50 and 20. Major credit cards are usually accepted if you happen to find yourself in a bar or even a restaurant, but you should note that you won’t be able to use them to pay in a taxi, for a massage or even in a beer bar. Local businesses do not tend to have card machines so make sure that you are always carrying enough cash around with you.

Plugs

The most common plugs are the two round pins. This is very similar to the US, but a lot of modern plugs now come with the option to adapt the plug you have to suit your destination. If you are stuck for a plug, then you can easily go to the local convenience store. They usually have them at a very affordable price so you won’t have anything to worry about there.

SIM Cards

SIM cards are very easy to find, and you can pick them up for a very affordable price. The fastest way for you to get one would be for you to get one for free at the airport luggage claim. You can then add credit to it. A lot of cards work quite well but if you want one that is more suited to internet usage then you might want to look into DTAC.

Driving

There really are so many things for you to see and do when you are in Phuket. If you want to get the best experience, you need to rent a bike or a car from a reputable provider.

Jet Skis

This will cost you around 1,500 baht. The rate will vary depending on the provider that you go with and you may even find that you are given a lesson as well. If you are planning on hiring a jet ski, then make sure that you go with someone who is reputable because if you don’t then you may find that you end up spending way more than you need to.

Suntan or Sunburn?

Don’t take the sun in Phuket lightly. Even if you go on a cloudy day, you should note that the sun is still strong. Take it easy and make sure that you apply plenty of sunscreen. If you do, then you will probably still come out with a tan and you may even find that you get one even if the weather isn’t great. If you end up with sunburn however then this may ruin your entire vacation, and this is the last thing that you need when you’ve paid a good amount to go.
