Tayrona National Park is one of the most beautiful places I have seen in all of Colombia. In order to see this beauty you have to trek at least 1 hour in the 100 degree weather with 100% humidity. I walked for roughly 4-5 hours that day and all my clothes were completely drenched.
When you reach the farthest point in Tayrona National Park you are able to go camping and even sleep in a hut on top of the mountain similar to the one above. If you are ever on the coast of Colombia I would highly recommend that you visit. Bring a lot of water!

Believe it or not, I lived right here about 38 years ago when it was occupied by Senor Pyares and Theo Martinez along with his niece and a few farm hands. I taught her some English and helped with the chores around there. Theo and I fished a lot. I was not aware it had become a tourist attraction but I’m not surprised. Back then there was nobody there and it was paradise…
