Puerto Madryn is the place to visit in Argentina if you are an animal lover. At almost every point in the area there is an opportunity for you to get better acquainted with your animal lover side! One of the great thing about Puerto Madryn (and surrounding areas) is that you are actually able to get up close and personal with these creatures.
You see how happy this Elephant Seal is? He only started showing me smile until I got too close to him and molested him a bit. He told me I was too far into “his personal space”, I didn’t know Elephant Seals had personal space. When you are in Puerto Madryn be sure to visit Punta Ninfas which is where you can get up close and personal with these creatures.

It’s funny because when I was in Argentina, I wanted to take a bus to Bariloche for New Years but all of the buses were sold out. The only destination that had available seats was Puerto Madryn and so I jumped on and went there instead. And I ended up enjoying the trip a great deal, mainly because of the animals in the region as well. (Although New Years didn’t prove to be too exciting as the entire town closed down!)
