Sneaking Into See Petra From Above

Petra

What an experience to see Petra from above. This is one of the most unique places in the world. This unique tourist attraction also happens to be on the list of one of the new 7 wonders of the world. Thanks to the Jordan Tourism Board.  This is one of those places that astounds you when you first see it. Walking what seems like miles through an intricate winding gorge with roughly 262 foot cliffs (80 meters) the treasury just creeps into your vision. Once you arrive you see an endless array of tourists, camels, and curious onlookers. We were given exclusive access to go up a sealed off rocky cliff to take pictures of the treasury from high above. Have to thank the Jordan Tourism Board for this as we couldn’t have done this without them.  The entire city was created by the Nabataeans roughly 2,000 years ago. They transformed this city into an important junction for trade between nations. Jordan is still considered one of the safest places in the Middle East and I would highly recommend a visit.

Peruse all of Jordan splendors and see more picture of Jordan here.

  1. I think Karl Pilkington had the right idea about Petra. It’s great to look at, but if I had to live there, I’d rather live in the cave across the street.

  2. This place looks familiar. I think I saw this featured on the Transformer’s movie part 2. (Or was it? LOL) Love this man made architecture. Thansk for sharing this!

  3. Will have to visit Petra some day…
But I’m finding it hard to pick the 7 wonders of the World. I’d even find it hard to make a 40’s list… But Petra would certainly fit in 🙂
