This Moai Statues on Easter Island lie on the Northwest side of the island called Rano Raraku. This is actually where the stone quarry is located. It is rumored that these were the only Moai statues that stood as of 1838. There was also a Japanese project to help restore some of the statues on the island to their original positions on the edges of the island. Many of the statues fell in an earthquake in the region. Visiting Easter Island is one of the most serene places I have visited traveling over the last 6 years. The internet isn’t the fastest in the world but I was able to day trade from a small internet cafe in the center of the small town which is located on the west end of the island.
Peruse the Easter Island picture gallery or the Chile picture gallery & don’t forget to see all the top things to do in Chile & around the world!
Would love to visit! Love the photo 🙂
The Moai of Rapa Nui never cease to amaze me!
These two statues are probably the most beautiful pair and they’re so often photographed 😀
