The cathedrals in Palermo are some of the nicest in all of Sicily. I couldn’t find the name of the church where I found this marble counter because it was when I turned a corner and just found a massive steel door that I walked into. It was very near all of the major tourist attractions in the city of Palermo but even though I looked everywhere, I couldn’t find a name.
The fact that you can turn a corner and walk into a door (that you may not be supposed to enter) and find something like this is truly impressive. The workmanship that I found inside this church was absolutely incredible. Just look at the little marble columns in the interior of the marble counter. I think Sicily is one of the secrets of Western Europe that most people haven’t discovered yet.
