The streets in Salvador are something else to experience. Depending on the time of the day you will encounter bright signs and tourist souvenirs on almost every corner. You will also will encounter the hustlers that try to sell you beads for the price of a Starbucks Frappucino. I chose to go to Salvador for Carnival because this is the city for the Brazilian’s Carnival. Rio de Janeiro, which is known best for Carnival, is where all of the tourist’s go and I always prefer to get a more in depth experience of the culture in a country. I didn’t want to be dancing alongside a bunch of tourists. Turns out it was an excellent decision and we had a great time!

Adding this to my list of places to go, just based on the picture.
No doubt about it.. one of the most incredible parties that I have ever been to!
Are you in Brazil now? 🙂 wow it’s definitely my next destination 🙂 how long are you staying there?
I will be in Brazil starting in January I think.. then probably for another 4 months
Just loved it here and the photos, great!
Am going to be in Brazil for carnival this year, and was looking for alternatives to Rio as it looks crazy expensive. Am hoping to rent an apartment for a month somewhere and would love to experience carnival with the locals! This looks like it could be a great alternative!
Salvador and Recife are your best bets out of Rio… I prefer Salvador because that is the Brazilian’s Carnival
